Local Beer Events in the High Country

April is NC Beer Month – a month dedicated to celebrating North Carolina’s thriving beer culture. An estimated 203 breweries exist in North Carolina, which is more than any other Southern state. This month, craft breweries and craft beer enthusiasts are hosting local events, giveaways, festivals, and more.

Free Beer Tastings
Peabody’s Beer & Wine, Boone
Every Tuesday from 5-7pm, Peabody’s in Boone will be pouring four different beers for locals and visitors to try for free. Their staff is known for being the friendliest of beer nerds, whether you’re a beer enthusiast or want to learn more about beer. Be sure to peruse aisle upon aisle of the finest wine, beer, cheese, and chocolates that they carry.
High Country Beer Fest Hoppin’ Off Ticket Release
Center 45, Boone
Tickets for the largest craft beer festival in the High Country go on sale this Saturday, April 8th. To celebrate, High Country Beer Fest is hosting a free mini tasting of the best High Country breweries at Center 45. There will be live music and a silent auction with swag from local businesses. All proceeds will benefit Aiden’s Army.
Featured breweries include Ivory Tower, Booneshine Brewing Company, Blowing Rock Brewing Company, and Lost Province Brewing Co.
What’s the High Country Beer Fest?
Freakin’ Firkin Friday
Lost Province Brewing Co
On select Fridays from 5-7pm, Lost Province Brewing Company in Boone is hosting their “Freakin’ Firkin Friday” (say that five times fast). Each Friday will celebrate the release of a specially-prepared cask (firkin) of craft beer. If you’re looking for the place to be Friday night in Boone, Lost Province Brewing has you covered with live music, woodfired pizza, and a local crowd.
SAVOR at Blowing Rock
Pack your bags for a four-day celebration of wine, craft beer, fine cuisine, and entertainment. If you’re looking for the perfect mountain getaway, head to Blowing Rock on April 19-23 for a grand weekend of wine, beer, and spirits tastings, cooking and pairing classes, Corkscrew and Brew 5k, and more. Beer 101: Great NC Beers
Lost Province Brewing Co
Can’t get enough of Lost Province Brewing Company? On April 25th from 6-8pm, join them for an evening dinner to learn (and taste) the different styles of craft beer. Sample eight different beers with select food pairings and take home a complimentary beer glass!

NC Artisan Marketing & NC-Centric Dishes
Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Cidery
Hop over to Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Cidery on April 29 from 12-4pm for a pop-up market featuring local North Carolina artisans and craft beer lovers. AMB’s food truck, Farm-to-Flame, will also be there to cook up NC-centric dishes – made with locally farm-sourced ingredients – and pair them with the perfect beer.
Hickory Hops Brewer’s Festival
Downtown Hickory
If you’re just outside the High Country, stop by the Hickory Hop’s Brewer’s Festival in downtown Hickory on April 22. They will be featuring 50 North Carolina microbreweries including AMB, Blind Squirrel Brewing, Birdsong Brewing, Asheville Brewing Co, and more.
